ART / CHARACTER / REVISION
From a character idea to a scene.
Three selected images from my FFXIV-inspired creative conversations. I shaped the brief, the character and the revisions; the images were made with AI assistance.

THREE IMAGES / THREE MOODS
Read the scene, then the detail.
Start with the complete image or unfold its reading notes. In the enlarged viewer, choose Close reading and select a marker to inspect a detail beside the original.
Inspect the image +The astral lecturer
A Hrothgar black mage imagined as a lecturer: the robe, staff and a room filled with arcane diagrams.
A lecturer needs more than a costume. Follow the character, the held light and the room that gives the role a setting.

- 01
A face beneath the hat
The pale fur stands out against the dark hat and robe. It gives the eye somewhere to settle inside a room crowded with ornament.
- 02
Light held in the hand
The violet sphere makes the raised hand part of the scene's action. The staff on the other side balances it, so the character reads as someone demonstrating something.
- 03
A room built around the role
Luminous diagrams echo the magic in the foreground. They turn an ornate interior into a place where this lecturer might teach, linking the setting to the character brief.
Inspect the image +A moonlit catfish mage
The same scholarly fantasy takes a gentler turn: a catfish mage, floating companions and a moonlit library.
The scholarly setting stays; the mood changes. A broad silhouette, blue-and-gold details and small companions make the scene lighter.

Let the expression lead
The open mouth, round eyes and whiskers sit within the broad curve of the brim. The expression carries the scene before the smaller costume details come into focus.
- 02
A shared material language
Gold fittings and blue stones repeat across the hat, clothes and staff. Those recurring details help several elaborate objects feel like one character's belongings.
- 03
Companions that carry the eye
The small luminous fish and curved trail lead around the floating figure. They bring movement to the library while leaving the central expression easy to find.
Inspect the image +Manaward, before the impact
A battle concept inspired by Futures Rewritten (Ultimate): a black mage, an incoming area attack and a shield caught in the light.
The brief asked for the attack marker and Manaward to read clearly. Look at how those signals sit inside an intentionally dramatic fan-art composition.

A visible shield
The violet boundary encloses the black mage and separates the figure from the bright arena. Making Manaward visible was part of the original revision request; here it also gives the composition a clear foreground.
- 02
The incoming threat
The red overhead marker and the circular ground effect draw attention to the targeted character. In this concept image they establish an imminent impact; encounter execution still belongs in the raid preparation material.
- 03
Two scales in one frame
The winged figure fills the upper part of the image while the black mage braces below. Their difference in scale, with the broken architecture between them, supplies much of the encounter's tension.
THE CREATIVE DIRECTION
The details I kept revisiting.
- 01
Give the character a role
I asked for a Hrothgar black mage imagined as a lecturer, and explored a catfish character too. A role gives the costume, props and setting something to work around.
- 02
Check the detail that changes the scene
In the battle image, I asked for the area-tankbuster marker to be corrected and for the black mage’s Manaward to be visible. The mechanic needed to read clearly inside the composition.
- 03
Bring a reference back into the conversation
I supplied a reference for Pandora and asked for the encounter setting to feel closer to Futures Rewritten. The gallery keeps these as fan-art interpretations, with attention to character, atmosphere and revision.
Personal fan art inspired by Final Fantasy XIV. The game and its character settings belong to Square Enix. Images were generated with AI assistance; my role was the creative brief and revision direction.
